The charming, Mozartean Serenade Op.19 includes a first movement in pure sonata form, an unexpected 'Fandango' second movement, and a dancy Rondo. Guiliani is the equivalent in the guitar world of Paganini for the violin. In fact they were friends, and it is thought that they wrote the Grand Duo in order to perform together and show off their dazzling virtuosity. Few violin and guitar duos have dared record the entire work! |
